Parish History

Our Parish

Holy Trinity Catholic Parish (Laverton Parish) is the third largest in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, incorporating the communities of Laverton, Altona Meadows and Point Cook. The Parish has five Primary Schools: St. Martin de Porres, Queen of Peace, Lumen Christi, Stella Maris and St. Mary of the Cross.

In 1969, the Parish of Laverton was founded. The construction of the St. Martin de Porres War Memorial Church/Hall began for the celebration of weekly Masses.

The Parish continued to grow with the establishment of the Queen of Peace Church that was built in 1992, prior to that, Mass was celebrated weekly in Queen of Peace School.

With the development of Point Cook, Mass had been celebrated at the RAAF Chapel, Point Cook from 2001. As from 2016, Mass for the Point Cook community has been celebrated at local primary school Stella Maris. It is hoped that a church will eventually be built in Point Cook in the near future.

On 24 November 2019, the parish formally adopted the name Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, bringing together the communities of Laverton, Altona Meadows, and Point Cook as one. Reflecting the unity of the Holy Trinity, these three communities are now joined as a single parish under the name Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
